Introductory Guest Post
I am going to let British-born New Zealander and entrepreneur Michael Corby open the blog for Questuosus with a guest post. Michael has been active in business for many years and has learned more about financial independence than most us will learn in a lifetime. Michael continues to own and operate his own business while also teaching others to make money online. His words set the stage for many future posts on the topic of building and maintaining financial independence
Why is financial independence so important, and how does one achieve it? For the first part of the question, if you are employed, then the things that you can financially achieve with your life are dictated by your monthly paycheck. For example, you may feel that you would like to travel to broaden your mind, but if your paycheck does not allow this, then you are trapped in your lifestyle and will feel frustrated.
You can of course borrow money to achieve your desires, but then you become a debt slave. Perhaps a change to a higher paying career is the answer? However, can you find the time and money to retrain, while still paying your bills?
So how do you achieve financial independence? The first port of call should be a Blog such as this. You will need to look for ideas. Not everyone is suited to operating either an online or traditional “Bricks and Mortar” business, but they may find that they are an astute investor for example.
Knowledge is the key, reading as much as you can and finding out the mistakes others have made will save you time and money. It may be that you need to take baby steps on your road to financial success, growing your money while you continue to work, until the day comes when you can break free and be truly independent, answering only to yourself. Until that day, continue to research ideas and don’t be afraid to ask. Placing a comment on this Blog, for example, may answer a question or provide you with an opportunity.
On a final note, it is important to have a goal. This goal will motivate you. It is not about sticking a picture of a Porsche on your shaving mirror though, you should have an image in your mind of how you will be living and what you will be achieving, only this will truly motivate you.
